Skeptical Lunacy.
a different perspective on skeptical dogma and debunking critical thinking for a rational world. A parody of one such site.UPDATE!
Good grief the skeptico guys have knotted panties over this NOT being a comment board.
Skeptico's power to clearly visualize is not well developed yet?
WHAT? they do not find any humor in my perception of their stunted thought process either.
Gee whiz!
They don't ALL get the reality ... the arguments made by them against "the secret" is as unprovable as the argument by the opposition trying to prove "the secret"?
Looks like a Mexican standoff to me pards ... put down your guns you CAN'T WIN!
For those who want to dialog with this group the Skeptico link is below :)
My philosophical bent.
Turn about is fair play in my book. We live in a country that promotes free speech, free thought and provides a soapbox to spout both from. If you want to leap on that soapbox and denigrate another group with no provocation other than to con the world with a display of your pseudo-intellect then you better be able to take the return heat. First and foremost (unless you enjoy the fools suit) you might want to educate yourself well on the subject you spout about from that high perch because you make a great target.
Why the site?
An interesting thing happened on my way to the forum (the forum = google search) the other day.
Somehow I ended up on a blog swarmed over by young skeptics. I have coined the term "skeptical lunatics" for this group knowing full well somewhere below that show of blatant ignorance about which they speak, there are probably some fairly brilliant minded young people. For their sakes hopefully they grow out of this "stunted mind state" in the near future. However one must first become aware of "the state" before one has hope of changing it.
The subject matter of this particular blog was "the secret" and the "law of attraction" = LOA. What first caught my attention was the owner of the blogs opening statements. At first glance I somehow picked up the inkling that he felt he was some sort of authority. After reading about 109 pages of this one particular thread I am still not sure "an authority of what" if anything. No matter really.
It did not take me long on this site to find myself laughing out loud. In fact rolling on the floor laughing out loud. These guys were totally rapt in their own importance and how right they think they are. My next thought was clearly the majority of them were under 30 with the maturity of a 12 year old. The next thought was holy smoke is this kind of "stunted thinking" being taught in our educational system today? In all of my years on the internet I have yet to run into such a close minded group. On the heels of all that came the "where in the heck do they find the time for all of this idle prattle? Which was followed by: probably still in school on daddy's dime.
It looks as though they are a close knit bunch of slap on the back "you go man cronies" who call themselves "critical thinkers". Apparently they grabbed the phrase because it was cool sounding without defining the meaning. Clearly they missed the "critical thinking does not assure that one will reach either the truth or correct conclusions" part because they are quite adamant that their way is THE ONLY WAY.
What amused me the most was how dead serious they were about how totally right their thinking process was. Hashed over and over was the pseudo-scientific blather that most skeptic groups dredge up to support their argument. I call them pseudo-scientific because most of them are simply parroting the "real scientists" of the world. In reality like most of us they do not have a clue how "quantum mechanics" REALLY works but sure would like you to believe they do.
"The Secret" and the phenomenon it has produced certainly has the shorts of this group in an uncomfortable knot.
For some reason they have locked on to Joe Vitale for ridicule and rock throwing. I followed their link to the Vitale site where they heckled him. Vitale did not seem to mind because he reads all posts before they go public and he did not censor any of them. Perhaps he figured if he gave them enough rope they would hang themselves. They were not a disappointment.
Meanwhile back on the skeptical lunacy thread as they flowed back into their puddle group the leader of the pack called Vitale CLUE LESS. Like lemmings the rest of the group took up the chant.
I could not help but wonder exactly what this group would do if someone fed them a dose of their own medicine laced with a little logic. I figured they would pretty much come unglued. Sputter, spark and ignite into a pissy group of children who had their sandbox invaded by an outsider. Again they were NOT A DISAPPOINTMENT. They ALL failed to see the humor in the whole scenario as they dawned their little flack jackets and readied themselves for all out war.
In my experience these skeptical lunacy groups (no matter what the subject matter) do not weather opposition, logic or reality well at all. Typically they dodge the real questions or issues by parroting the skeptical dogma spouted by all of them. Yes I did say "dogma" because skeptics follow their philosophical bent as much as any religious zealot. Maybe more. I especially love their tactic of pretending to misunderstand what you have said in hopes of dragging you away from the main focus of the argument. The typical ploy to cover up a lame response.
After the fairly negative expected response to my posts I could see the writing on the wall. I knew I was going to be banned from the site. It was now more evident that they could/would not weather the opposition well if at all. I archived the whole thread knowing full well how perfectly they had demonstrated the "law of we don't like you because you do not agree with our particular brand of skeptical lunacy". On my 3rd post (March 25, 2007 at 10:23 PM)... SURE ENOUGH my post was deleted and the leader of the pack said: "This is not your playground. If you want to rant and insult freestyle get your own blog. Skeptico."
Well there ya go skeptical lunacy supporters, that is how the LOA = law of attraction works. In 3 very short days Skeptico's visualization came to pass. Probably not exactly how he expected but maybe with a little work and direction he will get better at it in the future. If he took the time to learn what he was talking about before prattling on foolishly pretending he is some kind of expert who knows what he could achieve.
So thanks guys for providing living proof of how LOA (law of attraction) works. Where is the Amazing Randi and his million dollar reward when you need him?
For those of you not familiar with Randi, he is one of the self proclaimed skeptical lunacy guru's that these groups worship on bended knee.
James Randi - stage name The Amazing Randi, a stage magician that has spent a great part of his life deceiving the public into believing what is not true. Totally apropos for a "skeptical lunacy guru" don't you think?
Summation
This site is an antidote. My aim was to apply critical lighting and humor to some of the idiotic blather I saw on this site. I am posting an archive from March 23 2007 until today March 27 2007 as the complete example of what catapulted Skeptico's visualization into reality using the LOA better known as the law of attraction.
Archive of the deleted post and those leading up to it.
For those visitors with enough fortitude to withstand the whole blog thread from this skeptical lunacy group you will find it HERE. Be advised one of the supporting links is: "95% Of You Are Morons" ... ohh my that's not all there is so much more for those of you interested in dozing at your keyboard. Give them a visit. Add a little spice to their lives. By now they are probably getting a little bored with all of the "yeah man right on" crap.
For those of you wondering why I did not make this into a comment board.
Contrary to what these young people think NO ONE is trying to recruit them into anything. Like most of us who have entered the mature adult world we expect the young, naive, and ignorant to figure life out for themselves.
From this point forward these guys have a choice. They can remain hamstrung by what others tell them is true (flat world thinkers) or they can venture out on their own and use their brains like they were meant to be used (thinking freely).
Don't allow anyone to rain on your parade.
